  2. it's something that you need to get from the consulate office.

  3. If you are a brit living abroad and wnat to marry abroad, you ahve to get a certificate of no impediment, this is from the counsulate or embassy wherever you are, its is almost the same as the bans going up in the UK, the plan to marry has to be on public display for 21 full days, if no one ojects, the consulate/embassy will issue a certificate of no impediment, which means there is no objection to you getting married. If that is not the document you are needing, then it could be that you are needing to get the Stamp of Apostille, which is verification from the Foreign Office that the document you present is a true one, for that, look on the FCO website under legalising documents

  4. yes - an affidavit is a sworn statement. It must be sworn in teh presence of a solicitor or a commissioner for oaths. It sets out matters of fact. You will draft an affidavit saying that you have or have not any spouse whether living or dead and then swear it and file it.

  5. If you are in the UK you can get one from the Registry Office.  It certifies that you have no wife and are free to marry.
