Does anyone know about daycare inspections?

We are getting inspected and I am wondering about an open fishbowl we have in our classroom. It is within the child's reach in a science table.

  1. Have you checked your state regulations?    I would say if you get a violation over that item it is probably minor.   If the bowl is kept clean, doesn't smell, etc.  Its probably okay.   A friend of mine had a violation because the papertowel holder was 2 inches too high!      Silly me I thought the important things like fire extinguishers should matter more!!

  2. I would say move it to be on the safe side.  I was a preschool director for one year and they will get you for every little thing.   The children's safety always comes first.  They could pull it off and hurt themselves.  Plus, glass would get everywhere.

  3. I am not sure where you are located, but in the state of Pennsylvania, it must be out of the child's reach. The bowl must be cleaned very good, and there must be a cover on the bowl. You may not have any lighting on the bowl, or anything that is electric. You also may only have a total of 3 fish together. Hope this a help to you!
