  1. it will cost more then it,s worth. you can do it, but you have to have lots of money and time.

  2. Better of sell the auto, then buy the manual.Cost will be as much as buying the whole used car, plus the time and troubles.

  3. Every day at least 2 or 3 people ask this question.

The short answer is about 3-5 times what your vehicle is worth.

Think about what is involved.  The 01 Galant never had a manual transmission option so the only way you can do it is to get a transmission from a Eclipse of similar vintage.  That will cost you a couple of grand right there.  Then you have to change out the PCM and complete wiring harness.  There's a couple thousand more.  Now you have to scratch build a new center console since neither the one you have or the one in the Eclipse will work.  You'll probably need new CV shafts too.  Now you have to pay someone to put it all in.

And in the end you have a hacked up Galant with no resale value.  Why bother?

  4. I can only estimate what it would cost, but it will be a lot!  You would have to have your trans-axle replaced with the manual version.  Along with all the extras like a clutch peddle, shifter, on board computer.  I am sure it would cost several thousand dollars.  I am sure it would not be worth doing.  It would be cheaper to sell your car and just buy another one with the manual transmission.
