Does anyone know about kinship payments or residency allowance??

my sisters children have come to live with me throu socil work advice and i have been advised to get a recidency order can anyone tell me about kinship or recidency allowance and how to claim this?? and can i still claim tax credits if i get eather of the latter thanks

  1. Kinship payments are made through the Social Service Department - talk to the Social worker about this.

    If the child is placed with you and is termed 'accomodated'' as defined by the Chiildren act and the Social Work pay you a fostering or Kinship allowance to amintain the child you can not then get Child Tax Credits for the child. If you are offically fostering the Child you can get Working tax Credits (foster carers are classed as self employed) for the care your provide
