Does anyone know about memory cards?

today i just bought a new camera and a 2 gb Sandisc SD card. i took a few pics and tried uploading them onto my computer but when i did it said that my card had to be formatted and would thus erase all my photos. so i tried it anyway since i didnt take many but now my photos are gone and my computer said it couldnt format my disc. and when i put it back into my camera it read disc error. if anyone could help, id appreciate it.

  1. It's best to format your card on camera. Otherwise you may damage the thing.

    So try formatting again, this time on camera. Plug it back into your cam, ignore the error message, click on format and see what happens.

    If this doesn't work your card may be corrupted.

    In the future, ALWAYS format your new card (again, on camera) before shooting any pics.


  2. digital cameras has a format feature built into them. use it, rather than the computer. it will assign the cameras own sub directories  where thay store the photographs from the root directory. if you use a usb cable from your camera. I'm assuming a windows platform u didn't say. go to my computers with the camera on, you will find a removable drive which is your camera. click it, there will be some folders, one of the folders will contain your photos. after your there, highlight all the photos, right click  cut. next go to any folder on your computer like my documents / my photos and right click and paste. your photos will be removed from the camera, and placed within the computers folder
