Does anyone know about salaries in NZ?

I'm planning to move there next year and would ideally like to work for the government. I'd like to get an idea of how much jobs pay, however every recruitment website I go to doesn't list salaries.

Can anyone tell me where to look?

The average salary is in the low $30k with about 70% of population earnign below $40k.

Don't make the mistake in corrolating this on the current exchange rate.  The literal cost of living in NZ is a fair bit cheaper unless you live in Auckland or Wellington.

Depending upon what you do for the government; you should be looking to earn more than $50k.  A person earning that much in NZ should be doing relatively nicely.

Use www.yahoo.co.nz as a starting point to assess cost of living and then do a correlation.

Also, consider how much money you're going to be taking over with you.  The current exchange rate is about $3 to £1 and rumour has it that it might to stay that way for a while.

The salary/remuneration for a particular job is the market value for a particular profession and designation at the city/town where the office is located. Job postings at websites like Monster, Yahoo HotJobs and Careerbuilder carry information about salaries. The Govt Dept of Labor, (www.bls.gov) Bureau of statistics has information about median salaries for different professions and details of additional compensation offered. I have worked in Government here and as you are tax payer funded the salaries are low, would be a lifestyle rather than financial choice! Low $30,000 is where you could expect to start out
