Does anyone know about savings accounts with HSBC in Turkey, safe or not?

I don't know anything about Turkey, but HSBC is a very reputable company...one of the few truly global financial institutions in the world. (Many say they are...but HSBC actually is)...I'm sure you're fine with them. I used to do a lot of business with them globally and always had very good results.

When I opened my ccount in approximately Feb. 08, the bank officer helping me explained that Turkey HSBC could not be used in Europe.  Not sure exactly what that meant, but it seems there is some kind of separation from the main bank there.
