  1. Mini's have been made since the 60's and were still in production in some countries until recently.

The original mini was a 4cyl front mounted, front wheel drive vehicle, with motors ranging from around 900cc to 1275cc (Cooper S)

Early 1275cc Mini Cooper S's were quite a quick car for their day, and were very successful as race cars, both on road and rallies, and were also used as Police cars.

Horsepower figures ranged from bugger all to around 80 from the Cooper S, which was quite respectable in its day.

There were many performance parts made for the mini, ranging from superchargers to twin cam heads.

There is now a 'new' mini made that is based on the old mini but is quite a lot bigger, but is still a front engine, front drive design 4cyl motor.

  2. Like most cars today it is front wheel drive. The engines are all 4 cylinders. Either a 120 hp or a 175 hp turbo version. It is heavy for a car of its size about 1100 kg or 2400 lbs. Being Spaniard I have lost respect for what the Mini used to be and now is. It was a city car that cost only 120000 pesetas when new, about  600€. Of course like all cars they have gotten more expensive, but at the time this car was meant just like the Fiat 500 to be sold as the most affordable cars, also known as city cars for their size. Now the Mini is an image car and in Spain sells from about 15000 € to more than 30000 €.

  3. The Mini is now owned and built by BMW. It's a 4 cylinder, FWD setup and is very fast, too expensive and high maintenance. Just like every other BMW on the road.
