Does anyone know about the Punjabi/Indian religious custom of 'paanch kaapdi dena'?

  1. Paanch kapadi dena is a beautiful custom in Punjab, where a girl is married without any dowry, without any pomp and show and without any gifts etc.

    This custom is a boon for poor people as the girl is given in marriage in the very clothes she has been wearing (hence the name 5 kapadi- which means with 5 wearing garments)

    EDIT: My answer is based upon my personal experience as i have seen many such marriages in punjab even in Delhi. I dont think there is any such thing on net still i will try to find and come back
