  1. The only people who tell you sushi isnt safe are people who dont know anything about it, ive eaten sushi at least 3 times a week for the past 10 years of my life, and unlike most people i know who wouldnt dare eat sushi I have NEVER had food poisoning...as a matter of fact, I have never had a stomach flu in the past 10 years either...To go into the health benefits of sushi you would have to go into many different types of fish...some are good for the heart, some are good for the lungs, some are good for male and female personal virility, there is pretty much a different type of sushi that has benefit for whatever ails ya...though I will get hands down for this im sure (and I dont recommend going against you're doctors wishes) I am 6 months pregnant and I always eat sushi, never even got a belly ache (except if I eat McDonalds or something that is unhealthy)  At my sonogram my doctor said my baby was as strong healthy as any theyve seen and she could be felt moving at 15 weeks (which shows an extremly well developed child)  Anyways...as to the health benefits of sushi in general, it is filling, low fat and you dont get that "Weak and tired" feeling after a filling meal of sushi like you do if say you eat a lot of pasta or most other foods.  But every type of fish has its own benefit and different protein and vitamin content...If you would like to try sushi but arent ready to go raw, there are many that are steamed or broiled, such as California Rolls, Unagi (Eel), Tamago (Japanese egg), Some shrimp, all veggie rolls, crab, Lobster, Smoked Salmon, or Inari (Bean curd) just to name a few!  Most resturants that searve sushi will let you know the difference between Cooked, Raw, and Spicy dishes as to avoid any confusion or embarrassment.

  2. The health benefits are great! It is very low in calories and fat. It has protein, B-vitamins, and minerals like selenium, but also Omega-3 fatty acids. This helps brain and heart function.

Sushi with the rice and vegetables has a higher amount of carbohydrates, but adds fiber and vitamins.

Not all sushi uses raw fish, but I can understand that concern.

Get your sushi from a reputable company to ensure they have met all of the safety standards. Sushi is very safe as long as it is handled correctly.

****Pregnant women and people with immune disorders should not eat raw fish or shellfish because of the risk of exposure to bacteria and parasites. ****

    Happy eating!!!

    P.S. - now I'm TOTALLY craving sushi!

  3. Omega 3 ? Try pickle harring it has the most b.c they are small fish and carry alot of oils very good for the brain and cells .
