  1. I am sorry for your loss.  When my friend's husband suddenly passed away she did get a small check from the government.  I believe it's $2000 or so.  Basically, she had to prove she paid $2000 out of pocket, unreimbursed funeral expenses and she was repaid.  $2000 sounds like a lot, so it may be more like $200 but this was years ago.    I just tried to Google it but can't find it anywhere.  Sorry.

  2. Honey, has she already been buried?

  3. If your mother is Jewish you might want to try the Hebrew Free Burial Society. Just do a google search. If not, you can inquire at the local Y or Social Services.

  4. AARP!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Try this.  I am not sure whether they will help you or not, but they may be able to help you find someone that will.  I'm sorry you lost your mother.  God Bless You.

  6. I'm sure if there were people would be all over that like white on rice ! most people who cant afford funeral cost usually have car washes well that is what they do her where i live in California. i want my family to cremate me and stick me in a jar :)

  7. Talk to the pastor at your church.

Normally, BEFORE the burial, you can talk to social services, and they'd push you towards a cremation, which is a fraction of the cost.  But you're REALLY looking at help paying a debt.  So that would be the pastor of your church.
