I was born in the State of Illinois back in 1977. The State of Illinois has a closed adoption law where you can not open your birth records if it was a closed adoption. However I do know my first and middle name, the hospital I was born in, and I think I have a general idea of what my last name was just not the spelling. I am low on funds so hiring someone is way to expensive...I know this prolly leaves my options slim to none. I also know that I can register my name in the database for the State of Illinois but she also has had to do that and I am in the process of doing this....so with all that being said if anyone has any ideas please share them. Please be kind this is a sensitive issue.

  1. You should also register at

http://www.isrr.net (another free registry, this one national)

Further, the book "Birthright" by Jean A. S. Strauss has many helpful suggestions for searching.

Also, you should come over to

    http://www.adultadoptees.org/forum/index...

Many good people over there to offer support and advice.

    Good luck.

  2. I wonder if you could request a copy of your birth certificate from the county you were born in, and it may have her name on it. I don't know a lot about adoption, though, so I don't know if she would have filled out anything on that.

  3. hi it can take time trying to find your birth parents, try electric rolls at your local library.

as well get your full birth cert that might have something on it.

it took me 5months to find my birth mother but still try to find my birth father.

all the best and good luck searching.

  4. pray the gord lord can do miracles!!

  5. I can email some suggestions to you.

  6. I am in the same sittuation. I have heard that there is a chance you can write or call the hospital you were born and if you find someone willing. they can give you records of people that gave birth to a girl on that day around that time. that should narrow your list of people down a lot. the trouble is comming up with a story to get the list and finding someone willing to do it. Good Luck.
