As I have to create an original number 1-10 number game, to teach 4 year olds how to count from one to ten. All original ideas welcome.

  1. cut fish shapes out of construction paper, put a paper clip on them and number them one through ten.  Then get a dowel rod and attach a string with a magnet at the end. They can go fishing for numbers!  Our kids love it.

  2. A really fun one for preschool ages is the train game...  Use paper to make "tickets" with the numbers 1 - 10 on them.  Use either, numerals, the words, or dots, depending on the abilities of the children.  Then set up 10 chairs back to back and label them 1 - 10 with a different type of number than you used on the tickets (if you put dots on the tickets, use numerals for the chairs, for example).  Ask the child where they would like the train to take them, hand them the appropriate ticket, and tell them to find their seat.  Another option is to not label the chairs at all and have them count which seat they should take.  If they choose the wrong seat, tell them it's going somewhere else.  When they've found the correct seats, get chugging!

Ooh, you could even use cardboard boxes and paint them like train wagons and put holes in the bottom so they can stick their feet through and actually take the train around the classroom when everyone has found their number!  The children can paint the correct number of dots or whatever for each wagon, too!

  3. i know a song about counting by two's!

sing it in whatever toon u like!

"2-4-6-8-10-12-14-16-18-20-22-24 Count by 2's learn some more!"

    hope i helped!

  4. This might be a bit hard but we did this to learn numbers and times tables.

1)Get the children to stand up

2)Ask the first child to say one and second one says two ect.

3)If they get it wrong they sit down

    Hope this helps.

  5. ye yes yuses yes yes

  6. do "0" to "9" instead.

Zero is always forgotten, and ten is really in the next set of numbers...

all numbers are made up of the numbers 0 to 9, not 1-10...

    just my 2-cents

  7. We play this at the nursery- the teacher will clap her hands, and ask one child at a time, how many times she clapped her hands..(eg: clap 4 times-then ask a child.)

  8. count the children would be a good idea

    or

perhaps collect items (ie.shells, teddies, toy cars) and teach the children to count them this would get them excited about count.

  9. get things to count or ask the kids how many of 1 thing u have, give them candy and at the end ask them 2 count the amount of candies they have.
