  1. vitamin E and udder cream.  possibly surgery.

  2. Yes. Massage therapy is the best non-medicinal treatment for the scar tissue. Scar tissue is actually adhesions of facia gathered to a central point, such as a break in the skin tissue. There are four main purposes for the formation of scar tissue: 1) to mend it immediately primarily to prevent further tearing, 2) prevent infection 3) to shield the tender area against any further bruising 4) to aid the body's defense, repair and restorative abilities & functions that constantly flow throughout the bloodstream.

A good massage therapist would gently massage first the exterior area of the scar tissue to help break-up the facia. Then, as the scar tissue gradually softens by massage, the MT could then progress further inward.

A very important factor before seeking a massage: The scar Must be More Than three days old!

By the way, every body is covered with Facia. You cannot see it unless you peel away the top layers of your skin until the muscles are exposed. To see an example of facia, carefully peel away the skin of a tangerine. The tiny white "webbing" surrounding the fruit inside is facia.

The better treatments for swelling is to take a simple otc (over the counter) analgesic like tylenol or ibuprofin to reduce pain and to treat the area with ice or cold packs.

*note: do NOT put ice on the swelling for periods more than 15 minutes at a time. To do so may trigger a type of hypothermia reaction within the body as well.

When the body experiences HYPO-thermia [beneath normal body temperatures] the body will automatically trigger the heart and skin tissue to create heat in order to stabilize the temperature. This misread symptom would create heat, with the swelling, thereby sustaining the swelling longer than it needs to be.

  3. Anything enriched with vitamin E is your best bet. Plus drinking plenty of fluids. As for the Inflamation I would speak to your doctor. You could take IB Profen but again its best to speak to your doctor. Did you just get stitches out?

  4. If you had the surgery very recently, time may take care of it.  Swelling will respond to ice packs.
