  1. well i have a shih tzu and we play this game where i throw her dog treats around and she runs and catches it she loves that game

  2. Here are some I have tried with my dogs:

    1. Buster Cube

    2. Premier Busy Buddy Toys

    3. Laundry Basket (or a smaller basket first) depending on your dog. You could put a whole kong under there and let your dog figure out how to get it. Make sure the basket has no sharp edges.

    4. Put some food on paper and crush the paper into a ball. Then put the paper ball into a Holl-ee Roller Ball.

** NOTE: only do this if your dog doesn't like eating paper.

    5. Hide food in cardboard boxes. I use cereal boxes etc.

** NOTE: only do this if your dog doesn't like eating cardboard.

    6. I-Qube - Put food toys in an I-Qube

    7. Get a Dr. Noy's toy. This toy has velcro openings so you have access to the squeakers inside. Open the velcro, take our the squeakers, put some food in, and close the toy. My dogs have lots of fun opening up the velcro.

** NOTE: Take out the stuffing inside the toy, and only do this if your dog doesn't try to chew and swallow any soft toy bits.

  3. There are some great toys that you put treats in and the dogs have to figure out how to get them out.  My dogs love them.  Not sure what they are called but check out interactive toys on www.petedge.com

Also, my dogs all love to play soccer.  We have a few soccer balls in the yard and when I kick them and tell them to get it.  They go over and start pushing it with their noses to get it back to me.  Now they actually go out and play this game by themselves.

  4. Well some dogs like those kongs, and you can put treats in them, but my dogs don't like them, I guess it just depends on the dog.  My dogs are herding dogs, so we play hide and seek with them.  We hide in the house, and they come find us, and then we chase them all over the house and hide again.  This may sound silly, but we live in places where there are weather issues, so this is a good game for us.  We taught our puppies to play in the house when they were little, so they can run around and not break things and stuff.

  5. There is a toy called a Kong that you can put treats in, and it takes them a while to l**k/eat them out of it. They also are good for tossing around the house or backyard.

  6. Hide a peice of bread in a certain room every morning. Then after a few weeks once she gets the concept that everyday a peice of bread will be hiding in that room, she'll start looking for it. My dog flies in and searches instantly.
