  1. Wing Chun Kung Fu. Close - short range combat. Simple & powerful. Bruce Lee learned this before "creating his own" martial art.

    Check out videos on Youtube.

  3. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu

  4. find your local mma school learn them all

  5. I am a huge fan of Tai Chi (which is of course related to Kung Fu).  The Beijing Olympics display was spectacular -- if you missed the Opening Ceremonies, check it out here: http://kr.truveo.com/Tai-Chi-Togetherin-...

Although it looks like a very graceful slow dance, tai chi requires, but also develops, strength, flexibility, stamina and balance.  It may not look as flashy as karate, but the emphasis on proper body alignment, "rootedness" and proper breathing is something that anyone at any age can use, whether they are learning it to better cope with daily life, or as a defensive martial art.

If you are looking for something that is quick to learn and exciting to do, tai chi may not be for you.  But if you are looking for an activity that will give you life-long benefit, then this may very well be something you'd like to try.  But not on your own.  I strongly recommend finding a reputable club with experienced instructors who can guide your development.

  6. It may not be well suited for a beginner, but if you start any new martial art you're a beginner. I'd say take Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
