  1. The Tryp Havana Libre is a lovely hotel, massive rooms with two double beds, lovely bathrooms and good restaurant.

  2. It depends what you mean by good.

Some people like private houses - they can give more contact with Cubans, and can give more privacy. As mentioned above - try Pototo (www.cuba-junky.com)

Others like top quality hotels - the Saratoga (www.hotel-saratoga.com) or the Parque Central.

Others like hotels with more history - the Nacional (where many famous people stayed), or the Riviera (built by Meyer Lansky, mafioso).

Jimmy Carter stayed in the Santa Isabella I think - but that was a few years ago, and its quality may not be so good.

  3. You can stay in a Casa Particular  (private home) or in a hotel.

Casa particular goes around 25 to 30 cuc per night.

Hotel you can stay at the Tryp Habana Libre, big rooms, internet connections, servibar, room service, laundry, safety deposit box in your room and the most spectacular view of the whole city.

Be sure to get a high floor room facing to the ocean.   Best luck.

  4. An individual who may be able to help you is Pototo.  You will find his email on the site below.  I'vealso included another person Juan Bruno who operates a private restaurant in Havana.  There is a guest house right next door, it's a quiet street very close to Old Havana.
