  1. Here are a couple of videos which may be helpful to you.

    http://video.about.com/quilting/Hand-Qui...

The 'About.com' quilting area has tons of useful info.

My number 1 suggestion is to get a good thimble - make sure it's for quilting (different from sewing thimbles) and that it fits comfortably.

    Good luck and happy quilting.

  2. Are you talking about the quilt top or quilting the three layers together.  For information on making quilt tops, including traditional quilt patterns, baby quilts, applique techniques, and reviews on quilt books go to: http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com

  3. Here's the first of four tutorials for hand piecing and quilting:

This one explains cutting fabric using templates, which is really best for hand quilters. You draw the sewing line on the fabric, then cut about 1/4" outside the lines. When machine piecing you have a 1/4" guide so you don't have to mark the sewing line. When hand piecing, you need to know exactly where to so, so you draw that line on the fabric. At the bottom of each tutorial is a link to the next.

This is another tutorial series with excellent photos:
