Does anyone know any good tips for discipline for and 7 yr old?

My sisters daughter is being totally outrageous, part of it is a new baby brother, but she has a 5 yr old brother too, I dont know how to help my sister, she is beside herself. Any tips? OR websites? Thanks. No mean responses, trust me I feel like exploding on her, but that wont help. My sister had baby blues and I dont know how much more of her childrens behavior I can handle!!!

give the child lotsa of individual time without the baby.  encourage her and use the word NO less often.  don't allow her to become a 2nd mother to the baby cuz she's entitled to her own childhood.

someone has to help her with this, her husband.  the chlid needs priveleges taken away when she does something bad.  no swimming, no bike riding.  she has to earn it back.  she needs to have a schedule with chores.  the kid is out of control and is trying to be the boss.  stick right on her butt making sure she goes into time outs.  REWARD her when shes done a good job or shes listened.  this should help.  if u have done all this then take the child to a psychologist she may have something else wrong with her.

My son is also 7, and I will usually make him sit in time out.  If that doesn't work, then I will spank him and that always works.  She should also make sure that she sets aside "special"  time with her.  My son will tend to act up ever so often and I will usually schedule a date to take him to the movies without my daughter and it helps out alot.  Having a new child tends to ware on the other children more than you can tell.  She just needs to let her 7 year old know how much she loves her, but shes dissapointed in the way shes acting out.

1 warning, then a 7 minute time out if she continues. she does it again, she goes back for another 7 minutes, so on and so forth. if it gets too bad then it may be time for her first "grounding"... i had my first at 8 haha. she's old enough to understand right from wrong. but i would also suggest maybe setting aside special time for you & your niece so she can feel that attention & love she used to feel before the new baby... hope this helps.
