  1. i remember years ago..and I have no idea if it even exists any longer, there was a place kind of near Radio City Music Hall called "A Quiet Little Table in the Corner." The tables all had beaded curtains around them it was like you were the only ones there. It also had a piano bar, the food was great and I remember walking downstairs like into a basement to get there. I think this was 1977 or thereabouts. There was also a chinese place near there that served a great soup called Sizzling Rice Soup that they made in front of you...but I can't remember the name of the place. Hope this helps.

  2. There's a restaurant off the beaten trail in NYC called "grotto"

It's on Forsyth street in the LES, across from the park.  It's a hidden from the street and has a real speakeasy feel.  the food is pretty good and prices are fair.

In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, there is a Japanese place called "zenkichi"  it is in an old warehouse and the door is marked only by a light.  it is three stories, and all tables are private booths that are hidden behind a curtain.  the waitress only comes over when you ring a buzzer, so you have total privacy ;)

  3. Hop Kee in Chinatown on Mott st.  Its a downstairs restaurant, very close to little Italy so you could go for coffe and pastry after dinner.  You have to bring your own booze to the restaurant if you drink otherwise its just water and soda.
