Question:

Does anyone know any traditional Australian dishes?

For multi-cultural day, my class is assigned Australia. I volunteered to do food, thinking it would be easy... So, does anybody know any traditional Austrailian foods that middle schoolars will eat? ps. We are in Canada so there is a no nut polocey. thx.

  1. BBQ styled food?....

    It's pretty mixed... I mean although we have sausages, pies etc, current dishes are pretty mixed between different cultures. E.g. like some steaks are dressed in more Asian sources etc...

    Sausage rolls maybe? We do eat fish and chips too BUT that might be seen as more of a British thing than Aussie...

    UM... Aboriginal food?... but they'd be pretty hard to do cos you need to have all the bush ingredients.

  3. the only thing i know of is wild game wrapped in leaves and cooked in a sand pit using super heated stones, i suppose you could recreate using an oven or tandoori

    If you try the pavlova Passionfruit is the traditional fruit used by most Australians

  5. It's not really Australian, but I guess considered a traditional dish.  You could make a pavlova or just do bbq sausages in bread with sauce!

  6. australia is such a young country that we do not have traditional dishes or clothing
