  1. Some different songs include:

Glad to Be Unhappy from On Your Toes

    Woman from The Pirate Queen

This series of books has a lot of different songs from musicals I had never heard of. I use them for my voice lessons (my voice teacher uses them for all her voice students male or female) and there are some great, not well known songs.

    Good luck!!

  2. Hairspray isn't an unpopular musical, but 'Miss Baltimore Crabs' is apparently and unpopular solo.

  3. Well, I love Grease, but "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and Grease in general is hated by most teenagers on the internet. Also "It's Raining on Prom Night" goes on and on and gives Sandy kind of a bratty asestic. Also, I don't believe this with all my heart, but if you skipped Emment's part then the song "Legally Blonde" from "Legally Blonde: The Musical" then you would have a unpopular song. I love it but a lot of people on the internet hate the song.

  4. gimmie gimmie-thoroughly modern millie

  5. I've got off-Broadway. The musical "Zombie Prom" was performed off-Broadway and I did this rare but WONDERFUL musical this summer.

The songs are hilarious, and the lead is the class good girl, Toffee, who falls in love with the boy who's "from the wrong side of the tracks," Jonny (without an H).

After her parents tell her to break up with him repeatedly, Toffee can't take it anymore and dumps Jonny after she tells him that she loves him. He's so heartbroken that he throws himself into the local nuclear power plant. His body, along with all the nuclear remains, is thrown deep into the ocean.

Three weeks later, Toffee is still in mourning and her best friends, Candy, Coco, and Ginger, can't take it anymore. Toffee continues to hear his distant voice, and after singing a distant duet, opens a locker where his voice is coming from.

And who should it be but...

    Jonny, reincarnated as a ZOMBIE!

There's some background for you. The best solos from Toffee are:

"Jonny Don't Go To The Nuclear Plant"

and "Easy To Say" (a beautiful solo which is very funny in certain parts.)

You can easily find the lyrics to both of these online. Just type in "Zombie Prom Musical" on Google.

Glad to be of service! Best of luck.

(oh and I forgot to add...in "Easy To Say" just cut out the whole part with the girls. You should easily be able to pick up from

"Is it A what I know, or B what I feel?

Why can't it be all the above?" and then just continue onto

    "Easy to say,

This is no time to coast,

Everything warps when your boyfriend's a corpse,

    Still love matters most!")

    Hope this helps!

  6. Well I don't think you want it to be so obscure that judges are not familiar with it, because they might hear something they don't like without realizing that is how it is supposed to be sung.

The character of Mary from Jesus Christ Superstar has some good songs.

How about Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.  Hard Candy Christmas is a great song and it is not so 'I-Enjoy-Being-A-Girl-ish'.

I mean, every soprano is going to sing Sarah Brightman or something, right?

  7. A Part of That - The Last Five Years

I Can Do Better Than That - The Last Five Years

I'm Not Afraid of Anything - Songs for A New World

Come To Your Senses - tick, tick ... BOOM!

A Way Back to Then - [Title of Show]

  8. I like the play Brigadoon! You could sing one of Fiona's songs. Hope this helps.
