Look up information on Austria?

I ask for a "family genealogy" answer. To answer this mystery (to me it is) I NEED any and pretty much ALL information on the "Royal family(s)" of Austria. If Austria has never had any royal families, forgive me for asking, due to the lack of knowledge, and the LACK of information from my great aunt. Thanks SO much to everyone who answers will help me out here...

  1. Actually, the last house of the Austrian/Austro-Hungarian/Holy Roman Empire family, the Habsburgs, are still around.  There are a couple of members of British Royalty who are called Habsburg.  But, of course, they don´t rule anything.

Austria was once the center of Europe.  Both culturally and politically.  The Habsburgs were the most important royals there were for something like 4 centuries.

As for a website?  I would start with a search of Austria, or Austrian Royalty.  or just search Habsburg.

And for Luizi:  the Fabergé eggs were made for the Romanovs, the Tzars of Russia.  Just a little off on your geography, there.

  2. this one is quite good too

  3. Of course Austria had a Monarchy. As a matter of fact, the murder of the heir to the Austria-Hungarian throne in 1914 was the reason of the World War I.

Here is a website, where you can find information about the Austrian Royalty:

Try the Non-Reigning Houses Forums, you should be able to find enough information.

  4. Perhaps if you put this question under travel and find the closest country, you might get some help. This section relates to questions on royalty

  5. LOL try wikipedia.Yes I think Austria had a royal family.......I think that the Fabergé eggs was made for them.....

  6. Austria (Osterriech) was originally part of the Austro-Hungarian empire, and the seat of power for the Holy Roman Empire. Charlemagne was the first HRE (Holy Roman Emperor), and crowned by the Pope. His descendants continues to rule until Franz-Joseph the second, who was told by Napoleon to drop the title, and be just King of Austria ( Napoleon was a jealous b*****d, and wanted to by the only Emperor),

Once you have traced your line to the Carolinian Dynasty, the rest will be easy.

The royal line finally ended around the time of WWI.
