Does anyone know anything about A Sunflower Stop Cape town in Greenpoint)?

Question

Visiting with my family, husband and 7 year old daughter, how safe is this area and hostel? we are not planning on being out after dark , and we are usa street smart.

You'll be safe enough there, no problem with that.

I've seen some mixed reviews - from raving to bad  - on tripadvisor though.

Greenpoint is not too bad. Close to town, the Waterfront etc.

The Waterkant district there is a g*y quarter, Greenpoint has a few g*y clubs. I think you'll be fine.

Greenpoint has some rough night activities.  It's good that you're USA street smart, but add a little dash of paranoia to that, and you'll be fine.  Keep your valuables hidden, your eyes and ears open, passports must be kept very safe, leave nothing in your room sitting out.  Pickpockets are very very good at what they do.  Talk to the people at the hostel and use common sense.  Enjoy!  Cape Town is beautiful but there is a lot of extreme poverty so people are desperate.
