  1. Going to school in Baden-Würtemberg is not different from going to school in other states in germany.

    Other countries "near":

France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, Italy

  2. State Baden Wuerttemberg is nice. The big city I know is Stuttgart. Round Stuttgart is more country, but very nice.

Munich is not far a way. I don't know which school you want to go, but it will be OK.

Check on the web for more in formations.

  3. Someone else already listed the countries close to Baden-Wuerttemberg. The climate im many parts of this German state is warmer than in other parts of Germany (particularly along the river Rhine, Heidelberg, Mannheim, Freiburg) - which is very nice as spring and summer usually start earlier.

Things to do: Visit the world famous Heidelberg castle and the beautiful old city.

If you are interested in cars you can take a trip to Stuttgart (Porsche, Mercedes Benz)

Take a trip to the wonderful Black Forest region around Freiburg

Good food: Maultaschen (kind of Southern German ravioli like pasta filled with meat), Spaetzle (another kind of pasta), a large variety of deliciuos breads and bakeries and good wines - however as you are a student you are unfortunately not permitted to taste them.

Bavaria (Munich) with king Ludwig's castles is close to Baden-Wuerttemberg too.

I assume you should get in touch with a teacher at your present school to get advice about how to start an exchange (e.g. organizations who offer such programs). Besides that it would be an advantage if you are already taking a German language class so you better understand what's going on in class and to benefit more from your stay. But I think that would be a pre-requisite for a student exchange in Germany anyway. However, don't be afraid most Germans understand and speak English quite well.

Great idea to consider an exchange abroad!

  4. I would recommend you post your question on the German Yahoo Answers which is called "Clever":
