I am an aspiring model and joined this site. It says 7 days for a free trial. The very next day i get a text from them and call back.

Im talking to one of the representatives and he said i need to make a membership in order to recieve casting calls info.

i payed 70.00 for 3 months. Then he said I could cancel the membership after 3 months.

But what i didnt like was that he was pushing me to for the YEAR membership and he said that i wont get too far in 3 months.

Which makes me question just how legitimate this is.

Did anyone else apply for this or know any info.

I'd really appreciate it.

  1. I just want to say thanks to ExploreTalent. ExploreTalent have really helped me in this business. I was turned down by so many agents and managers that I can't even count them on my fingers. I have even been scammed by two of them. I found my new manager that I am signed right now on this website from one of the auditions. I auditioned for the management and was signed two weeks later. I am so excited and now I have movies in the works and so much other projects. I couldn't be more happy. You guys truly are awesome and I recommend everyone and anyone who wants to be an actor or singer or dancer this is the place to be. That send you to nothing but the best auditions and take it from me it may take time to get accepted to most of the auditions that you are casted for but believe me its worth the time. Remember its not your choice its what has already been mapped out for you, so don't hesitate. Sign up for exploretalent.com and you won't be disappointed. Thank you once again.

  2. ExploreTalent - Great site ! Got first professtional acting job withing one day of signing up..

I just wanted to say thank you so much to Explore Talent. ExploreTalent have been wonderful! I have been a member for few years now. Within one day of signing up I got my first professional acting job in a theatre company outside of Washington DC called The Starving Artist Theatre which made me eligible for an artist grant from the government. Also, I also got acting job with a second company, Element Productions, in Washington DC right now! I could not have found these jobs without Explore! Everyone there has been so helpful; and I find this website easy and extremely essential for anyone starting in the business.

  3. What I've found doesn't look good.

This is from 2004 and it says that it's a scam run by a known criminal:

    http://www.easybackgroundcheck.com/explo...

This is from 2006 and calls it a rip-off:

    http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/19...

And also from 2006 people call it a scam:

    http://starsearchcasting.com/forums/inde...

This is a site where you can look up businesses online to see what people think of them:

    http://welcome.bbb.org/

And this is their page about ExploreTalent:

    http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Busine...

Here they are rated as an "F".

And this is the meaning of that "F":

    [Quote]

We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.

    [End Quote]

It's the lowest rating a company can get on that site.

On this page they have a list of complaints that's from this year:

    http://www.labbb.org/BBBWeb/Forms/Compla...

    [Quote]

Most complainants allege unauthorized credit or debit card charges. Some customers complain that after they cancelled the service that they were still charged. Some complain that they signed up for a free membership but were later telephonically solicited and offered jobs, audition assistance, or that casting directors were interested in interviewing them but they had to sign up for a pro membership to receive more information.

The company generally responds by providing explanation of their membership and cancellation policies, but in most cases provides full refunds.

    [End Quote]

This part sounds promising on your behalf. There is a chance of getting your money back if that's what you want.

I'd also take the advice about looking companies up at http://welcome.bbb.org/ before doing business with them. It looks as if it could pay off in the end.

Through my searches I've also seen a pattern where I've found good reviews of the company posted here and there. I've seen it before and most of the time it means that they pay people do make those posts and reviews, it's spam, but people think it's real people speaking about their own experiences with the company. I can't say that it 100% certainly so, but if it walks like a duck and quacks as a duck ...
