I was just curious to know why so many people(parents etc..) sign-up to coach Little Dribblers and are SO mean to the children? I am President over the Mojor Girls(5th and 6th grade girls). I also have a daughter in the Juniors(she is 9). Her coach is wayyy over the top....she screams in those little girls faces and tells them to learn how to play ball. Sorry...but I thought THAT was the reason you signed up for these jobs(such as mine)....to help these kids...not run them in the ground. I know I am on the Board...but I don't know how to approach her(the coach) with out making it harder on my little one and the others on the team. She has even been rude to parents??? My little one is not a quitter, and she is very good at ball, but she has been very upset this season. Now she is not wanting to try-out for ALL-Stars!

  1. You need to approach the coach directly and voice your concerns. She may not be aware of how loud she is or how harshly she comes off. Plus, she may be rude to parents because she might not like parents trying to coach from the side lines. Ask her if she needs help and if there's a need for an assistant. Sometimes, people volunteer with the best intentions and may neglect the fact that they don't know how to communicate with children.

If, you feel that your voice in falling on deaf ears, then, you should go to the other players' parents and find if they feel the same way. Then, you can all come together and have a talk with the coach (ganging up on a person without first trying to approach them alone will just make them defensive). If all else fails, then you should take it to your board and discuss finding another coach.

  2. Teaching them for real life. Not everyone in the world is a nice person, some are complainers@
