Does anyone know anything about MagicJack?

It's a new device you plug into your computer and plug any land line phone into the jack and it costs $40.00 for the jack and usage for the first year, then $20.00 per year after that. Apparently you can call long distance and locally with this MagicJack. Is this for real, or just another scam???

  1. It's for real... but their infomercial style of advertising would certainly make one wonder...

But, why spend $40/20 to make calls over your PC when you can make them for Free?

EarthCaller is currently providing completely free PC-Phone calling over your PC, while it is still in beta development phase.

All PC-Phone calls to USA/Canada landlines are currently free.  And, when I say free... I mean... no money.... at all.

You just need a headset and microphone to talk from your PC.

  2. no....its not a scam....!

its really easy to use........like a VoIP service (internet phone)

but you computer got to be on at all times for it to work!!

You gotta download their software....but its very easy and you don't need to do nothing else...! I have it since last year...! so far I love it...I take it on vacation to other countries so I can call back for free with an US area code! Make sure you use another user account and not the admin account...also if you have trouble...check your device manager....don't do your iPot stuff at the same time...!

all you get is the Magic Jack...the rest you learn on your on, or at the MJ forum!

You will be up and running within 5 minutes....you can ask here questions when you get it going!! There are alot of little things you have to know........for it to work just right!!

the most important thing with the MJ...it all depends on your ISP provider....! I use other VoIP on my computer, but the MJ was the easiest to install...

  3. Not good enough to be your main phone yet but is great as a backup and for making long distance calls within US/Canada.

Very limited area codes available and needs high speed Internet access and a PC/Laptop running XP/Vista.

I have been using one since last November and am happy with it!

  4. i love mine, and i DO use it as my only home phone... but I do have a dedicated PC set up on my network just for the MJ
