  1. Hello there,

I really have never seen a Normandy flute,  but I do know that Normandy is a company in France and is very well known for making clarinets.   I bet the flute is old.... and possibly a good one.  The number #374 is probably the serial # and indicates that it was the 374th flute made by the company....  and I say that it is surely old - but the year of manufacture is harder to determine.

You might take it in to an instrument repair shop and have the technician evaluate it for you.  With his experience, I bet he can tell you the approximate age of the flute.  He may also be able to tell you if the mechanism is sound and if the flute is worth having refurbished.

Just because a flute is old, does not mean that it has outlived its usefulness.   Now, I know it is probably not a professional flute  but it could be a very good instrument once it has been repaired and it may even be a collectible.

    Thanks for reading.
