I think it would be awful if someone is using the name of the dead in vain......claims I am the beneficiary of the late Engr. "Richard Rosenburg" who knew of me in the United States and his will was left to me and they need to know if I am the right person....?Is this a Scam or phony co.

  1. Sound like a scam to me. Its going to be one of those "we need a British bank account to transfer the money, Oh and all the legal and bank transfer fee's up frount" - which of course you will be promised you will get back. Except you won't.

  2. Do you know this richard rosenburg? Ill bet you dont. Its a scam, theyll want to give you money all you have to do is give them your bank details....

  3. Unless you know a Richard Rosenburg, or have any Rosenburgs in your family history, its a SCAM

  4. Probate research firms do exist, however they usually track down distant family of deceased people who never wrote a will. When they find someone who might be a beneficiary they do need to confirm that persons identity, and will usually do so before revealing the full details of the will. The people they are trying to contact are usually 3rd cousins or even more distant cousins who often didn't even know the deceased existed. They do often have a hard time trying to convince people that it is not a scam, all that "too good to be true" and "you don't get something for nothing" mentality. Eventually people come round.

However, in your case it sounds a bit scammy.

Fraser and Fraser are an established probate research firm in London. The BBC just finished a show called "The Will Detectives" or "Fortune Hunters" or something silly like that featuring them. Why don't you contact them to verify the details of the firm that is contacting you.

  5. If you knew this man it is possible, as there are companies out there that contact the benificiaries, of a will. What you can do is some research yourself, use the net and check with companies house. If they are not a registered company it is a scam. In the meantime do not give any personal infromation out.

  6. SCAM.

  7. I get these all the time, including from the USA, (I'm in the UK)

they are a scam.. remember if it seems too good to be true IT IS...
