We have been slowly remodeling the front portion of our house, creating two bedrooms out of one big room for our teenage children. The walls have been erected, the drywall and all duct work completed but my kids have not kept their rooms clean enough to enable my husband to texture and paint the walls. My son was involved in a legal situation which involved the police entering my home. They noted that the kids' walls were not textured and painted and reported it to CPS. I was unaware that there were laws that required a room to be completely finished before occupation, especially something as simple as texture and paint. It's not as if my children were sleeping somewhere that was considered to be a fire danger. There was not exposed beams or wires. The biggest complaint was regarding my daughter's room because she drew pictures and did graffiti on her wall. Was this wrong?
