  1. Strongly advise against penny stocks, of any kind. A rumor, which is what you are referring too are almost always designed to draw in inexperienced investors, that in the end, usually find there investment worth pennies when it is all said and done. These low volume, penny stocks are notorious for manipulation by professionals and pump and dump crowd.

Most people are drawn into penny stocks because they may have a modest amount to invest, and think, hey I can buy 10,000 shares of a stock, and if it only goes up 5 cents, I can make some money. Well the converse is true also.

You're much better off taking the amount you want to invest, and buy a company in a strong group, with solid fundamentals and technical action, and buy only a few shares. Consider a stockpicking newsletter service with a solid track record as an alternative to help you find what you are looking for if you don't see something on your own.

  2. Don't you know, all penny stocks are about to jump, especially those in the oil business,

I receive daily e-mails and snail mails from promoters touting penny stocks that are about to jump

This may jump and make some people rich, but definetly not with my money

When you invest/trade in penny stock you should never put up more than you can afford to loose and you should assume you will loose it all. Unlike regular securities, penny stocks usually do not let you use risk cutting procedures (options and/or stop orders) since most are not traded in a regulated market place.

They say when you buy securities you have a 50%-50% chance of making money, when you buy penny stocks you have a 50-50-90% chance, 50-50 chance of making money and a 90% chance of loosing money.

Good luck, whether you make it or not, at least you'll learn something
