Does anyone know anything about amending your taxes?

I did my taxes in January at H&R Block. They screwed up and didnt give me the EIC for one of my kids, I had them amended sent them into the IRS and then, 9 weeks later, I get a letter from the IRS saying H&R didnt complete all the forms involved. Went back to H&R sent i forms which started my whole 8-12 week waiting period all over. So now I am on my 10th week, nothing has processed yet, my stimulus got delayed cuz the amendments not complete, the IRS isnt taking call cuz of extremely high call volume, and I owe everyone with the exception of God money. I talked to saomeone who said the amendments are taking alot longer because of the stimulus checks. How does the IRS know when your in your 8-12 weeks to amend your taxes? Do you think or know if their time frame is accurate? Can I do anything to ensure I get the money by the 12 week? Please help, very stressed!

  1. Processing is a little slow this year due to all the stimulus returns filed.  With any luck you'll still get your refund in the next two or three weeks, but your stimulus payment will be after that, probably a few weeks later.  No, there's nothing you can do to speed it up - you'll get it when they are done processing it.

Good luck - I hope it comes soon for you.

  2. 8 to 12 weeks is the normal processing time under normal circumstances.  This year is anything but normal at the IRS so I'd allow an extra couple of weeks at least.  Give it another month or so.
