Does anyone know anything about and organization called ACORN?

It is apparently in both the US and Canada. The newspaper called them a Community Action Group but that is rather broad. What exactly do they do? Have they ever done anything for you? Where I live, we are having landlord troubles - Do they help with that?

The Acorn Club does fine work in the community.  They are responsible for the library in our town. (See the link below.)

I buy a full page ad in their local phone book, which is published annually.  The proceeds help local community efforts.

So, you can be sure that the Acorn Club is a legitimate charity. They use their funds well, and contribute directly to the communities in which they are located.

Yes. ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) is a great organization. ACORN Canada is a new organization working on a variety of issues such as raising the min wage, regulation of predatory lenders, tenants rights, community safety etc.

ACORN is a volunteer run member based organization focused on building power for low to moderate income families. They have won countless victories in BC and Ontario such as changing provincial laws to license payday loan sharks, negotiated and won agreements with landlords, lighting in parks and streets, and the list goes on. ACORN here in Denver tends to go for certain issues like raising the minimum wage and currently the mortgage crisis.
