Question:

Does anyone know anything about graphics? Teacher, student or anyone else???

I am in year 10 and have taken graphics as one of my GCSE subjects. I have some coursework to complete during the summer holidays, I am at the design stage of my project and am planning what materials to use, etc.

I am creating a board game and making my playing pieces out of 3mm acrylic, and I need to draw a picture onto it somehow. I know there is definitely a way of doing this, but cannot for the life of me remember! Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? If so, could you help me please?

Thank you! If you need any more details then just ask! xx

  1. If you didn't mind doing it by hand, one option is to paint on the back side of the plexi using model paint.  The side you don't paint on would actually be what people see - it will look more slick and professional than painting on top.  Model paint would be good b/c it's opaque & won't come off like other paints.

Otherwise, a copy shop - like Kinko's - might be able to give you some ideas.

    Good luck on your project!

  2. You could try alternative methods. You can get iron on transfer paper for your printer, which is like a melting plastic film. You could iron that onto your acrylic pieces (with care) allowing you to print your designs on your computer. the other alternative is to draw on paper and sellotape over the top. You could use OHP acetate.

I think you have a lot of choice.

  3. If you have a laser cutter at school it could be done with this, otherwise you could etch it on. Otherwise the previous suggestions are good.
