  1. The regulations in NC are fairly light in comparison to many other states. You can find specific information about the law at these two sites.

  2. If I remember right, I believe the only requirement here is that you have to take the Year End test. Which is about the easiest test I have ever seen. There are loads of homeschool groups around here, especially in Charlotte.

  3. April, It's ok to email me.

We homeschool in NC.   You need a high school diploma or a GED.   You need to send a notice of intent to Raleigh and you need to test once a year.

Do a search for this question on Y!A and you will find the links.

  4. www.hslda.org is a great place to answer most all of your home school question specific to the legal issues for each state. They know the laws and have helped change them over the years to help homeschoolers educated their children at home.

    Going to this web site:

    http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St...

will give you a brief summary of the homeschooling law in North Carolina. This also has a link to a more detailed analysis.

    Thank you,

  5. http://www.nhen.org/leginfo/state_list.a...

Is a good place to start finding out about the rules for your state.

The positive aspects of socializing in the home school community and the community as a whole that take place in day to day life as a homeschooler cannot be overstated. The world of public school is just not a healthy place of many children to be.  Good luck.
