I am in the process of purchasing this SUV, but I want to make sure I am making the right decision first, It's the 5 passenger, 2WD with cloth seats. I also have a newborn, so I want to make sure she will be safe in the vehicle too.

  2. Have you looked on Euroncap?

The only Isuzu is the Rodeo which has even been tested. The results are staggeringly bad even compared to a small car. So are all their models like this?

The Rodeo does have ISOFIX but the design is rubbish.

Most Japanese and malaysian cars etc are poor in crashes,  as are American cars Dodge and Chrysler etc. Chrysler Voyager is appallingly bad too.

FOR YOUR newborn, you should use an ISOFIX car seat, this is the International Standard of Fixing, and will only suit some vehicles that have anchoring points in them.

An ISOFIX car seat will cost more, but they are much much better.

Safe cars are Renault Espace and all other Renaults designed after 2001,  and the BMW X5 or the Volkswagen Tuareg SUV's, European standards.
