Rode one with e-assist last year.

You are looking at semi recumbent style bicycles.  Sun has some, there is one called an Evox by CCM. Rans makes some too but pricey. I have a Giant REvive (out of production).

This style bike does cerainly help with lots of different posture oriented problems.

If I had not gotten the Giant Revive (out of production), then I would have gotten the Day 6.  It is a pretty big bike.

So 'google' the different style semi-recumbents, you might even try a full recumbent.

some advise:  lots of hill climbing power for a bicyle comes from the ability to use ones weight on the pedals of a bike.  the more you deviate from vertical pedal orientation, the less hill climbing power is available.

soo you need some really good low gears, and light weight  --- can be very helpful for hill climbing.

We put e-assist on these and they are quite popular. (remember there is an off switch for e-assist for those great days you have)

People with back problems really like this style bike.

More data- decreasing the impact of bumps on ones upper body is much accomplished by using the legs and arms as mini-shock absorbers on regular upright bikes, not so much on bents and semi-bents.  

However semi bents retain some of the great agility of a normal upright bike but full recumbents loose the ability to take sharp turns and be used on sidewalks and narrower paths.  But they are great for long hauls.

so look at the different bikes, find local dealers, get some rides.

You can also use a google craigslist search for good used ones, but seldom do people sell these.
