  1. Born: January 4, 1985  (age 23)

    Jacksonville, Florida

He spent the entire 2007 season with the Class A Advanced St. Lucie Mets of the Florida State League. In 2008, he was promoted to the the AA Binghamton Mets. On August 2, 2008, a day after being promoted to the AAA New Orleans Zephyrs, the Mets left-handed reserve outfielder Marlon Anderson was placed on the disabled list, so Murphy was called up to the Majors

  2. The first gut covered it all except I think he forgot the fact that Murphy is really an infielder. Now that he is an outfielder many of his catches are an adventure. He has made a few amazing catches already. I see some David Wright in this kid. Murphy and Nick Evans have played together in the minors. LETS GO METS!!!!!

  3. I know he is from Jacksonville Florida and he was born on april fools. What is great about his story was that he was drafted in the 13th round and was moved from second base to third base to the outfield. Scouts say that he is a lot like Kevin Youkilis of the Red Sox, he has a great eye on the plate and all he cares about is baseball. I wonder what his future position with the mets will be because I think it would be awesome if he can play second base next year over Luis Castillo. Lets GO Mets!
