Does anyone know anything about the music "candombe" of Uruguay?

I heard it consists of drums. It sounds interesting.

  1. It is a wonderful acoustic, drum driven music, one of my favorite candombe musicians is Uruguayan Ruben Rada.  

    The candombe is a music, and dance, with its greatest influence from the Bantu slaves, mixed with the Uruguayan creoles; their descendants are still present in Uruguayan society.

    If you want to know more about Candombe, listen to some music, learn about its origins, this is a pretty complete website:  www.candombe.com.

    You can check different musicians, but as I said I recommend listening to Ruben Rada.  I had the pleasure of being at various of his band live concerts in Uruguay and LOVED it!!
