Question:

Does anyone know anything or have any experience traveling in Peru as a female?

I'm an adventurous female going to Peru in a few weeks and am wondering about the safety situation for females. I'm traveling with another female friend and while we're both tough and fairly travel-savvy, I'm just looking for any advice, or better yet personal experiences concerning safety. Thanks!

  1. As you're travel savvy, you need to do the very same things you'd do traveling elsewhere: choose well-known places, avoid dark, empty streets...

If going out on a date, check with your gf.

    You'll do just fine.

Peru, like everywhere else in the world, is as dangerous as one wants it to be.

I've gone all myself and did perfectly well.

  2. i traveled through Peru 2 years ago when I was 16. Im from the US and am a tall hispanic model so i got looks from men. its gets annoying after a while, but you'll get used to it. the great thing about peru and all of central america is that travel is simple and cheap. you have to be extremely careful tho. even tho you're with another girl, its dangerous, despite what some people may have said. but the people are really kind so its very enjoyable. im guessing you guys know spanish but if not thats another thing you should be cautious about.

  3. If you need any help from a Peruvian guy, please do not hesitate to contact me through e-mail.  I'll be glad to give to you some advice!

  4. I don't understand you, but if you are female, you had better watch out.

Ha ha, you make seem Peru as a dangerous jungle!

    I don't blame you.

  5. Peru is a safe country, but it's also dangerous if you go to the wrong places, it's a wonderful country but you would enjoy it better if you speak a little bit of spanish or if you have a friend waiting for you and your friend. Try not to have too many cash with you, try to check www.peru.info they give some advices to where to go, where to stay and more. And also contact the US embassy, you never know. good luck

  6. Don't stress, Peru is not dangerous at all.  I travelled through it solo and found it quite safe.  You will get some attention from the local men, but they mean no harm so just learn to deal with it.  And be careful with you're stuff especially when travelling on buses because if you're not it will get stolen.  But other than that just have fun!
