I have 105 qt sterilite containers but they have so many toys that they're running out of room.

  1. I've seen alot that just have a wooden shelf on stilts (with a lip around the edge so the hamster can't jump off), and some where people take a piece of wood and attach it by putting screws through the container into the wood at the height they want it at.

  2. Stack 2 on top of each other cut a square on the lid of the bottom bin and cut a square on the bottom of the top bin matching it up with the bottom bin lid. To keep them together heat up the tip of a knife and make a slit to put those plastic slide and lock ties around the opening.

  3. Take a smaller Sterilite container and use it upside down inside the larger one.

I keep looking for drawer units like the ones in that link. You could remove the drawer and the frame becomes a free standing shelf. Or flip the drawer upside down after cutting a few holes in it and use that.

If you can get your hands on a store bought cage free or nearly so, they often have parts that could be repurposed into something useable. I keep thinking the top of the Crittertrails flipped upside down would be handy fo something.

Another idea - someone has a bin cage that sits ontop an underbed bin. Attached those together and now her hamsters have a basement!

Links to cages I've found with shelves.
