  1. Wow! 600 hundred.  I live in ATL and pay 1200.

  2. New Orleans is expensive.

in the French Quarter $600 won't even get you a studio.

you'll have better luck in the surrounding areas.

Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge & Harahan.

the morning commute is very heavy but avoid I-!0 and you'll find it manageable. River Road and Jeff. Hwy are alternatives.

  3. I'm not sure, but i think it's a little higher in NO. My husband and i go every year and just happened to talk to a "local" about the rent going up since  hurricane Katrina. It seems like they want to keep the poorer people that used to live there from coming back and being able to re-establish themselves, that's just my theory. And it also depends if you're going to live close to the French Quarter or farther out.

  4. Rental rates went way up after the storm especially in areas that were not effected by flooding. You will not find a 2 bedroom for $600. You might be able to find a 2 bedroom from $800+. But is one is listed at $800 it will move fast over $1000 is more probably). Here is a link that should give you an idea. But you do some research on what area you want to be in and view the place first as areas can switch from block to block in the city.
