Does anyone know exactly that when was chess invented...?

and who invented it.....?because some people say that it was invented by some person from Africa..some say India..some Persia...and some Arabic..i am confused...!

  1. Chess comes from the Persian game Shatranj.. which was invented in 550 AD. The "modern" rules of Chess which are used today are from around 1475 AD.

    While many consider Chess to be one of the oldest games in the world.. it's not even close. XiangQi was invented in 204 BC and WeiQi (GO in the US) is around 4,000 years old. The game of Backgammon (or a slight variation) is estimated to be close to 5,000 years old.. but since the rules are different from the modern game.. traditional historians do not include the game.  In addition there are several other games which pre-date Chess.. with both Senet and Ur existing as two of the oldest games.

  4. I have heard the same answers, I think it was Persia though thousands of years ago. Either way though it is cool to be able to play the same exact game that some of the most important people in history played.
