  1. Dear Jennie,

If you have the information for the agency or organization that facilitated the adoption, they are a good place to start.

If you have names, you could try running internet searches http://www.zabasearch.com/ or google to see if you get any leads.

You might also want to register with these sites if you haven't already (they are the largest and most sucessful):

    http://www.isrr.net/

    http://registry.adoption.com/

Here are some other registries which may be useful:

    http://www.kinsearchregistry.com/index.h...

    http://www.the-seeker.com/adopt.htm

You can also enlist the help of a Search Angel to help guide you. These are VOLUNTEER searchers who will assist you in your search.

You might also find some more ideas and a great deal of support at Adoption Threads.  You might find others who are searching or have reunited already who can help and encourage you.

You may also try going though the resolved Qs in this section that inqure about reunion or records. There are tons of great search tips and ideas.

Please accept my heartfelt wishes for all the answers you seek and my very warmest hopes for a happy reunion! GOOD LUCK!!

  2. Iowa law appears to have access to "non-identifying" information available to a birth sibling... you should write the agency or law firm for the adoption and request the non-id for this adoption. If the agency or firm is no longer, the records have probably been handed over to the state. you can request the non-id from the appropriate state department.

Are you registered with Iowa's Mutual Consent Voluntary Adoption Registry?

Conact local support groups, sometimes these people know things that they should not.
