  1. if they win a race they get paid by their sponsors

  2. I would assume you mean racing BMX. There are different arrangements of payment.

If you have a Factory Sponsorship, they vary quite a bit depending on who you ride for, but they pick up your tab's <less any alcohol> while you are at a national points paying event and usually offer bonuses for:

    A. Your finish in the main event(s).

    B. If you have photo exposure, you get a kickback.

Some sponsors pay fee's upfront, and a few reimburse you, however not many do that anymore. You will receive race gear sporting your sponsor, the better the sponsor, the more gear you get, as well as how often you get replacements.

I retired in 2001, but I don't think much has changed over the past 6 years. If you do make it, my advice, save your money!! I hope this helps answer your question. Good Luck!

  3. BMX ???

Dude, this is the MOTORCYCLE RACING thread.

You will be better of reposting this in the correct section.

  4. pro bmx isnt known for its big pay checks. if your riding a lot of comps the sponsors will pay you to make an apperance and spot you a percentage of your winnings. coverage in mags, videos, video sections, news, and the occational demo will get a sponsored rider money. riders that make a monthly sallry are in comercials and television.

usualy being pro involves more work in than just riding. your design bike parts, t shirts, put on events, and work with sales.

fbm has been known to pay riders with beer and raiman, and kink has been known for flying their riders all over the place.

the bigest catch to being pro is that your almost always friends with the people you get sponsored by. so you end up with a bunch of drinking buddys that want to make bike products so they can scave off a real job as long as posible, and ride their bikes every day.

  5. you generally dont get paid til you go big, you can get money from winning comps, but if your just sponsered and not winning competitions you just get free parts when you need them and such
