Does anyone know how close Thrifty car rentals is from the cruise terminal in Georgetown, Grand Cayman?

Thrifty as at the airport, about a 15 minute ride from the pier.  Forget about renting a car for the 8 hours your ship will be inport.  You can easily get cabs to take you to any part of the island.  However, if you insist on getting a car, make sure which currency the price is quoted in.  Cayman dollars are about 1 equals US$ 1.20 so the "40 dollars" quote really costs US$48.

Just looked it up on the Thrifty website.  It says the rental office is at the airport, which is not at all convenient to the cruise docks.

I suggest you go to CruiseCritic.com, click on "Boards", then go to "Ports of Call" and "Grand Cayman".   You'll find info there about which car rental companies are close to the dock and reliable.

Unless you're going to an out-of-the-way spot [like Rum Point], you may not want to rent a car.  Most tourist spots are easily accessible by cab or bus, driving is on the "wrong" side of the road, and traffic will most likely be heavy when cruise ships are in port [especially if there are more than 2-3 ships].  You have to allow a lot of time to pick up/return the car, leaving plenty of time to get back before the last tender leaves the dock.

The only Thrifty Car Rental, I believe, is at the Georgetown International Airport.  As the people at the Purser's Information Desk to be sure. :) Be very careful when renting a car in a foreign place!  Have fun!!
