  1. It isn't far, it would take an hour to drive depending on traffic and most of it is motorway. There is a commuter train service, QR Citytrain - not sure about buses.

  2. If you live somewhere close to the centre of Ipswitch (walking distance from train) and he works somewhere in Brisbane with a good bus service it might be feasable.

But i think the bus service in Ipswitch is pretty lousy, so if you are more than a short walk from the train station or don't have a car then it is probably not feasable.

by car durring peak hour it is probably at least an hours drive from ipswitch to the centre of brisbane, but if he/she works on the western outskirts of brisbane it may work.

Ipswitch isn't a very nice town though, at least it has a bit of a reputation for being a bit of a hole. I think it may be improving though.

A good site for public transport in south-east queensland (the state ipswitch and brisbane are in) is:

  3. I'm not a local of the area. I'm from Sydney in fact but I've done some research for you.

Ipswich is located around 30kms south west from the Brisbane CBD. Travel can be done by QR trains, with regular services between the two areas. By car, you can take the Ipswich Motorway which will take you directly to the CBD.

    Hope this helps.

  4. 1/2 hour drive off peak hour 1 hour peak times

train every 1/2 hour expect on weekends & public holidays then every 1 hour

local bus service but not to brisbane but can get a conection at Wacol i think it is

  5. Hi,

Ipswich is about an hours drive in traffic.  There is a train that goes to Brisbane.  If your wife is working 8 or 9 hours 5 days a week driving might be a bit tiring and traffic is nasty at times.  Good luck.  If i worked in Brisbane I would not like to be more than 30 minutes train ride away. I also wouldn't want to drive in the peak hour traffic.
