Does anyone know how i can find a host family in france?

i would go through an academic program, then you can pay the program and they pay your family (you DON'T want to have to deal with negoitiating money issues with your french fam.. believe me.. I went through it and it's awful!!). that way, you can also be "paired" up with a family and then if it doesnt work out, your program re-places you. if you go through a program, they'll also set you up with classes, which is a good deal. mine was through the CIEF in Dijon, I'd check it out if i were you!

there are agencies that special in placing students in international language homestays. I host french people who stay in our home in the NYC area through 3 agencies like that, and it is a great experience for student and teacher family alike. Yes, it is expensive, but think of it this way: you are given the chance to speak french literally all day (with breaks and some independent free time, to be sure). If you went with a typical university program you would be in an impersonal class maybe 3-4 hours with maybe 12 other people and a bored teacher, then listen to everyone speaking english on the breaks and at night. so the cost is not so bad when you think a bout it. you can request a family with children and 2 parents if you want that way there are more people to interact with. So do a search, and tell them what kind of situation you are hoping for. If you email me privately I could supply you with more info. Summer may be tough to get people who are free when you want to go. and don't at all assume paris is better--actually the other way around because in other cities people are friendlier and more patient with people learning french. even the people who live in paris tell me this! if you go, take a digital voice recorder and ask your teacher to make corrections and read some relevant sentences for you into the recording with a pause for you to process and repeat it. this will help you retain everything far better than just taking notes. any good teacher would be happy to take a few minutes to do this for you.
