I'm working on a project where i am going to try and fix up an old caboose, but part of their guidelines is that i have to keep it in its former state and color and such, but when i researched them on the internet i just found their historical site and i don't think i can reach the right person through there please help!!!!

  1. I dont think you can.

    They are gone.

Merged to form Illinois Central Gulf in the '70s and bought by the Canadian National in 1998.

  2. Well, the IC is now part of the Canadian National so your best bet might be to indeed get in touch with the IC Historical Society or try and contact someone at CN who might be able to help you.

  3. Lucky, your best bet is to contact the Illinois Central Historical Society, Alco 83 posted the link to their site. I've posted the contact page, I can guarantee if you contact anyone there and tell them of your project they should be able to help you with photos and other valuable information pertaining to your caboose.

Things such as correct color, lettering scheme (depending on which period you plan on restoring it back to) inside details, the paint color, correct inside fixtures etc. They have a wealth of information that in a case like yours is priceless.

Don't bother with CN, h**l, in my opinion, they couldn't wait till the 150th anniversary so the could start purging the IC name.
